With the rise in crime today, installing security cameras and monitoring your environment is more essential than ever. We at HOL are here to make installing your next camera system seamless, efficient and cost effective.
Security cameras can either be CCTV or IP, and they differ mainly by how the video is transfered from the camera to a storage device or display. Unlike the regular CCTV cameras, where the video captured can only be stored and viewed using a DVR and monitor in a particular room, the IP video can be viewed by the user and stored on a NVR or Cloud anywhere in the world as long as there is Internet access.
The installation process for both are fairly similar and involves connecting your security cameras to a power source and to your network for storage and viewing. If using cables, this may involve significant wiring. However for a wireless setup, the process is easier and the cameras can be connected remotely in minutes. The cameras would then be positioned and secured to their final locations and tested.
There is a significant price difference between CCTV and IP cameras, however IP cameras, which are more expensive, allows for significantly higher video resolution and feature sets.
When selecting cameras for our various camera systems below, we ensure to consider the following: What camera types are most effective (dome, bullet, hidden, dummy, ptz etc.)? Will the cameras need to be weatherized? Will they need vandal proof shells? Do you need night vision? Do you need audio commuincation? Do you need high-quality video streaming? Do you need remote viewing? Do you need long storage of videos? Do you need high resolution for recording and live streaming?
Security camera installation cost depends largely on the number of cameras, camera types (fake, bullet etc.), camera networking (hard-wired or wireless), location (indoor, outdoor or street), data storage (DVR, NVR, Cloud) and finally labour rate.
In general the initial installation cost of a hard-wired camera system are alot higher compared to that of a wireless camera system. If you’ve decided to get a wired security camera system instead of a Wi-Fi camera system, the setup is a bit more involved, but you’ll end up with a better video quality system in the end.
Cost of installation per camera depends a lot on the design and labor to achieve this design, there are many variables. We will need to determine the amount of work that will need to be done to run the cable. The real cost is running the cable through the ceiling, wall, or other area, similar to an electrician doing electrical wiring.
Some installations may require installing a heavy duty pole and foundation to support the camera especially for an open area or public area. Additional costs may also include fiber to a local hub and transmitters/receivers, and additional conduit may be required.
